Traditional Funerals for Whatcom County Families From Moles Farewell Tributes

Funeral ceremonies have been part of the human experience since the dawn of time. Every society in every era has developed rituals that celebrate the life of the deceased, honor his or her memory, and provide a healing experience for those who remain.

In America, roughly 50% of funerals follow a traditional pattern that has developed over the past 100 years. Here in Whatcom County, the percentage is less, yet many families still find great comfort in this style of service.

The traditional funeral begins with a public visitation usually held at one of the Moles Farewell Tributes locations. The body will be present and friends and family will stop by to pay their respects.

At Moles, we focus on making the visitation a celebration of the life your loved one lived by using memorabilia, photos, and videos to help you tell the story of a lifetime.

Next, there will be a formal memorial service. This could take place at our facility or at a local church.

After the formal service, a hearse will be used to transfer the body to the cemetery where the burial or entombment will take place. A graveside service will be conducted before the casket is lowered and the grave is sealed.
